What we collect
Your email address, because you typed it in. Nothing else about you. No name, no school, no year group, and no advertising trackers of any kind.
We also keep a scrambled, one way record of your network address for up to two days. It exists solely to stop automated abuse, both of the signup form and of the visit counter described below. It is stored separately from everything else, it is never joined to your email address or to your visits, and it is deleted automatically.
What we will send you
Three things. Occasional updates on what we are building, an invitation if we open early access or a beta before launch, and the email telling you that T-SkiLL is live.
There is no schedule and no newsletter. We write when there is genuinely something worth saying, which in practice means rarely. We will not pass your address to anyone else, and we will never sell it.
How we count visits
We count three things: that the page was opened, that the signup box was opened, and that an address was submitted. Together those tell us whether the page is doing its job, which is the only reason we count anything.
There is no cookie and no advertising network. Each visit gets a random number that lives in your browser tab and is thrown away the moment you close it. It exists so that one person looking at the page twice is not counted as two people. It cannot follow you to another website, or back here tomorrow.
Separately from our own counting, this site runs Vercel Analytics, which is part of the service that hosts the page. It records the page you opened, roughly where in the world you opened it from, and what kind of device and browser you used. It sets no cookie, it does not build a profile of you, and it cannot follow you to another website. We use it to see whether the site is working and how people are finding it. If you would rather it did not run, any standard tracker blocker will stop it, and the site works exactly the same without it.
We also record which site you arrived from, as a domain on its own with the rest of the address discarded, and whether you are on a phone, a tablet or a computer. We do not record your browser, your location, or anything that could identify you, and none of it is joined to the email list. The scrambled address described above is used to stop one machine flooding the counter, and it is kept apart from the visits themselves so it cannot be used to work out who did what.
Who else handles it
We are a small team and we do not run our own servers, so a handful of other companies necessarily touch this data in the course of doing their job. They act on our instructions and cannot use it for anything of their own. In the language of data protection law they are our processors; in plain terms, they are the companies whose services we are built on.
- Supabase — stores the email list and the visit counts. Data is held in the United Kingdom.
- Vercel — hosts the website and provides the analytics described above.
- Cloudflare — runs the check that tells a real person from an automated script when the signup form is submitted.
- Resend — sends the emails, and so handles your address at the moment one is sent.
That is the complete list. Nobody else receives your address, and none of these companies is paid in data or given permission to use it for their own purposes.
How long we keep it
Your email address: until launch, plus a short period afterwards in case the first email fails to arrive. Then it is deleted.
The visit counts: they are already anonymous, so they are kept as plain totals and there is nothing in them to delete.
If you are under 18
Most T-Level students are, and that is expected. In the UK you can agree to a service like this yourself from the age of 13, and you do not need a parent's permission to join a mailing list. We have deliberately kept what we collect to the minimum that makes the waitlist work, which is one line of text.
Getting it removed
Ask, and we will delete it the same day. Email hello@tskill.co.uk. Every email we send also includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing deletes the record rather than just flagging it.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be erased. For a single email address on a waitlist all three amount to the same thing, and the answer is yes.
