Who we are

T-SkiLL is run by T-SKILL LEARNING LTD, a company registered in England, company number 17499160. Our registered office is 7 Thornaby Gardens, London N18 2AU, England. Where these terms say we or us, that is who we mean. You can reach us at [email protected]. We have no company phone number.

We are independent. We are not part of, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of the Department for Education, Pearson, NCFE or any other awarding organisation, or any school or college. We use the names of T Levels and awarding organisations only to say which qualification our revision material is for. T Level specifications belong to the organisations that publish them. Our lessons are our own reading of those specifications.

Who can use T-SkiLL

You need to be at least 16 to have an account. It is built for students in Years 12 and 13, and you are equally welcome if you are retaking, if you are over 18, or if you are revising over the summer before Year 12 starts, as long as you have already turned 16.

When you sign up you tick a box saying you are 16 or over. We take you at your word: we do not ask for a date of birth and we cannot check it. If you are under 16, please do not make an account yet. You are welcome once you turn 16.

If we are told that an account belongs to someone under 16, for example by a parent or a teacher, we pause the account and email the address on it. Pausing deletes nothing. If the student replies within 30 days to confirm they are 16 or over, we restore it. If not, we delete the account and everything in it. We never ask for ID or a date of birth, and we ignore reports that are plainly made to get at someone.

If you are under 18, we would like you to have told a parent, guardian or teacher that you are using T-SkiLL. We do not require proof of that.

Adults are welcome to revise on T-SkiLL too, and these same terms apply to them, including teachers and college staff. Because there are no messages in T-SkiLL, nobody, adult or student, can write to you. Friends can send each other only a few set cheers.

Your account

Your account is yours alone. Do not share it, and do not use anybody else's.

There is no T-SkiLL password. You sign in with a code we email you, with Google, or with Apple. Keep control of the email address on the account, and of any Google or Apple account you sign in with, because anyone who can get into them can sign in as you. If you lose access, contact us.

Keep your profile accurate, particularly your course and year group, because they decide what content you are shown.

How you agree to behave

Be decent to other students. Do not harass anyone, do not pretend to be someone you are not, and do not choose a username you would not say out loud in a classroom. We screen usernames, and we will change or remove one that gets through.

Do not try to break the platform, reach other people's accounts or data, scrape our content, or work around limits we have set. Do not use software, or another person, to play for you or to inflate XP, streaks or leaderboard positions. Do not post or share our questions and answers publicly, for example on social media or in a shared document.

We have no tolerance for abusive behaviour or offensive usernames. We can suspend or close an account that ignores this. Where it is proportionate we will say what the problem was first. Keeping people safe explains how this works and how to ask us to look again.

What costs money, and what never will

T-SkiLL is free to students. Every feature in the app is free to use. There are no ads and no purchases in the app.

If we ever introduce something that costs money, we will tell you first and ask you to agree. Here is our commitment, and it is a term of this agreement rather than a marketing line: anything that is free to you today stays free. A paid option, if there ever is one, would be for things that do not exist yet. We will not take a feature you already rely on and put it behind a payment.

Our content

The lessons, questions, explanations, glossary, artwork and the design of the app are ours or used with permission. Use them to study, which is what they are for. Read them, revise from them, take notes from them.

Do not republish them, sell them, feed them into another product, or share them outside T-SkiLL. If you want to use our material with a class or in another setting, ask us. The answer is often yes.

The T-SkiLL name and logo are ours. Names of exam boards, qualifications and companies that appear in lessons belong to their owners.

What you write

Some of what you type is stored: your name and username, your answers to written questions, and anything you send through Tell us, a suggestion or a report.

It stays yours. You give us permission to store it, show it back to you, and use it to run and improve T-SkiLL. For example, a report about a wrong answer is read by a person and used to fix the lesson. Other students can see your username. Friends also see your first name, as Other students explains. Apart from that, we do not publish what you write, and we do not sell it.

If you suggest a correction or an idea, we can use it in T-SkiLL without paying you or naming you.

Other students

T-SkiLL has friends, groups and leaderboards. Other students can find you by your username, and by your first name only if you turn that on in Settings. By default a classmate who is not a friend sees only your username, avatar and badges. Friends also see your first name, year group and course and, unless you turn off Share progress with friends, your streak, your XP and your progress. Nobody else sees your answers, and no other student sees your email address. The Privacy Policy sets out exactly who sees what. Some features, such as head-to-head battles, may not be switched on for everyone. Where they are, the other player sees your username, avatar and score for that game.

You are only on a leaderboard if you turn that on in Settings, and you can turn it off again at any time. Play fairly: do not use help, software or other accounts to climb it. We may correct XP that was not earned, or take an account off the leaderboards. You can block another student; blocking works both ways, so neither of you will see the other.

Keeping people safe

There are no messages, posts, comments or uploads in T-SkiLL, so the only things other students can put in front of you are a username, an avatar built from our own pieces, a friend request and a set cheer. Usernames are checked against a list of words we do not allow, and staff can change any that get through.

If somebody is behaving badly, or a username is offensive, report it from their profile, or block them. A person at T-SkiLL reads every report. Reports about someone's safety are looked at first.

When we act on a report we may change a username, take an account off the leaderboards, or suspend or close it. If we think someone may be at risk, we may contact the police or other services that can help.

If we take action against your account, we email you to say what we did and why. If you think we got it wrong, email [email protected] and a person who was not involved, where we have one, will look again and tell you the decision. If you reported someone and are unhappy with how we handled it, you can ask us to look again in the same way.

If you are worried about your safety, talk to a trusted adult or your school's safeguarding lead as well. In an emergency, call 999.

Kira, XP and streaks

Kira can be spent only inside the app: on themes, on streak freezes and, where battles are switched on, as a stake in a battle with a friend, which the winner collects. It has no cash value. XP, levels and streaks are scorekeeping inside the app. None of them can be bought, sold or exchanged for anything outside T-SkiLL, and apart from battle stakes they cannot be passed to another person.

Streaks are there to help you build a habit, not to make you feel bad. Missing a day costs you nothing that matters, and you can turn reminders off whenever you like.

We may adjust how they are earned and spent as we tune the app, and we may correct a balance that came from a bug or from cheating.

What we do not promise

T-SkiLL is a revision aid. It is not your course, it is not a substitute for teaching, and it does not replace the official specification or your awarding organisation's own materials.

We work hard to keep our content accurate and in line with the specification, but we do not guarantee it is complete or error-free, and we cannot promise any particular exam result or grade. If you find something wrong, tell us. There is a report button in the app, and a person reads what you send.

Keeping it running

We try to keep T-SkiLL available and working. We cannot promise it will never be down, and we may take it offline for maintenance or change how features work, add features or remove ones. If we remove something significant, we will tell you in the app.

If we ever close T-SkiLL for good, we will tell you at least 30 days before, so you can download your data. After it closes, we delete it.

Some lessons can be downloaded to use offline. Anything you do offline syncs when you reconnect.

Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from Settings, under Privacy & data. Your account is hidden from other students at once and erased for good 7 days later, and you can change your mind in that time. That removes your profile, your progress and your answers.

If an account is not used for 2 years, we email to warn you and then delete it 30 days later, unless you use the app before then.

You can also ask us to do it by emailing [email protected]. We first check it is you, by sending a link to the email address on your account. Once you confirm, your account is erased 14 days later.

A few things survive deletion in a form that is no longer linked to you. Counts of which lessons were started and finished stay, without your name, for up to two years. If you reported a broken lesson, the record that the lesson was broken stays so we can still fix it, with your name and anything you wrote stripped out of it. The Privacy Policy lists what is kept.

We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. If we do, the app will tell you the next time you open it, and we email you to say why. A suspended account cannot be deleted from the app; write to us and a person will deal with it.

Changing these terms

These terms will change as T-SkiLL grows. When we make a material change, the app asks you to agree to the new version before you carry on. Your acceptance is recorded against the version you agreed to, so a change means a fresh ask rather than a quiet update.

Smaller corrections, and changes that only make the terms clearer or better for you, are published here with the date at the top updated.

Where we stand legally

We provide T-SkiLL with reasonable care and skill. If we break these terms or fail to take that care, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that was a foreseeable result. Loss is foreseeable if it was obvious it would happen, or if we both knew it might happen when you started using T-SkiLL. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable.

T-SkiLL is for your own study, not for business use. Exam results depend on far more than revision, so we are not responsible for your exam results or grades. That does not limit our responsibility if we fail to take reasonable care.

Nothing here limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else the law does not let us exclude. If you are a consumer you keep your statutory rights, and nothing in these terms takes them away.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland you can bring legal proceedings about them in the Scottish or the English courts, and if you live in Northern Ireland, in the Northern Irish or the English courts. Otherwise, the courts of England and Wales deal with any dispute.
